what in the fuck… my dad spouted 7 of these almost verbatim the last time i tried to call him out on his shit and then threatened to kick me out because that’s how not racist he is

Oh, fuck this noise.  The Irish are “white” and they dealt (and in certain areas, deal) with hell.

But they are now considered your standard American along with other immigrant groups such as Jewish, Polish, and Italians. What do they all share in common?
WHITE SKIN.
Read How Irish Became White by Noel Ignatiev, which charts how the Irish were able to overcome prejudices against them in the USA, largely by becoming racist themselves against the Black population they had been lumped together with (Because of the prejudices against the Irish, they were usually put together with Blacks in the same neighborhoods and had to compete for the same low paying jobs. Competing for resources tends to make groups racist).
And, in the first place, them being able to get into the country was an act of racism from the US government who closed its doors to people immigrating from darker countries and let in immigrants from Whiter countries (Same thing they do to Hispanics now).
By the way, you do realize you just did #6, right?
Whiteness rains so supremely in your mind that you have to be the best at everything, even at being oppressed. You can’t see past Whiteness to understand the lives of anyone else, even when we’re telling you how things are going down.
So… the Irish went through “hell” and that’s important to mention, aye? Yeah… okay. Snap out of it.
